What is the significance of Winston's relationship with Julia? Why does Winston risk everything for the relationship?

I think that winston's relationship with Julia is similar to him having the diary. He was willing to risk everything to write in the diary, even to buy the diary. now he has a "living diary" so he is even more willing to take risks to talk to her. I think that he is willing to risk so much for both because he knows how important it is to live without the Party ruling his every move.

I think that Winston's relationship with Julia is significant because it is a way to rebel from the government. I also agree with Luke that it is like the diary, a way for him to release all of his thoughts and emotions, especially concerning the Party. I think that Winston likes having someone that he can talk to and confide in. He feels that Julia is another person who hates the government, and has the same feelings and thoughts about the Party and its happenings. I think that Winston is willing to risk everything because he needs to feel loved, and have someone to talk to. I think that Julia is someone who is willing to listen, and she acts like a support system to Winston. He also risks everything because he thinks that they will be vaporized in the future, or that he will be arrested for a thought crime. I think that he feels that he should put everything on the line, and try to make as much of a difference as he can, with Julia's help and support.

I think that the relationship between Winston and Julia is significant, because it shows a bold move towards going against the government. Their relationship is pretty secret, and I think that Winston risked everything for this relationship, because he wanted to find love, and to know what love was. Since Love was banned, Winston wanted to find why it was banned, and why Love was so bad. He discovered Love, and liked it so much that he wanted to continue feeling loved. Thus Winston risked everything to be with Julia.

I think that Winston's relationship with Julia is so sgnificant because it shows them rebelling against the government by doing/having something that isn't allowed and is something that the government has tried to suppress so much. I think that Winston decides to risk everything for their relationship because he has longed for so long to be loved that when Julia offers it to him with no strings attached, he just can't resist.

I think this is definitely a simple question. It is one of the deepest aspects of human nature to want to feel loved and feel like one belongs. When Winston turned from the Party, he needed to be with someone. And since he has been alone, he has wanted to feel loved.

Yeah, I think that wanting to rebel against the Party is part of the reason why he forms a relationship with Julia, but too put it bluntly, I think it's also for the sex. In 1984, sex for Party members is meant to be a duty, not something pleasurable. Winston wants to enjoy it, which is why he has sex with Julia, someone who will do it with him not as a job, but as a choice.

Winston's relationship with Julia is significant because it's a way to rebel against the government because any relationship where there's any kind of feelings is a big no-no according to the government. Winston risks everything for the relationship because he has finally found someone who agrees with him on his anti-government beliefs. Also, he's confusing the relationship for love, when it's really just lust, but because he thinks it's love and wants love so badly, he's willing to risk his life for it. Julia is kind of taking the place of the diary now because she's someone who will listen to him and who agrees with him, and this is definitely something he'd risk everything for. Sex also plays a part, because he never really enjoyed sex with Katharine, and he has found someone he can enjoy sex with, so that's another reason.

I agree with Maddie. I think he's in the relationship for the sex. I don't think they're really in love, but Winston thinks sex is love, so they do believe they're in love. Winston is willing to risk everything, because I think love is something he truly wants. Now we're seeing that Julia doesn't care about some things that Winston thinks about and tells her about, so maybe we'll soon learn that they're not really in love though.

Personally, I think Winston is so obsessed with Julia because she is one thing that the party denies that he can have easy access to. This relationship makes Winston feel like this is the only chance to deviate from the party in his ever shortening lifespan. Also, I wouldn't doubt that the sex has something to do with his intense relationship with Julia.

I think the significance of their relationship is that she is finally his accomplace and he can condfide in her like he used to do with the diary. It is like when Montag found his accomplice and he was able to act on his plan and really do something. I think that Julia will give Winston confidance and he will be able to stand up to the party.

I think Winston would risk everything for his relationship with Julia because she has become his living diary. He used his diary to rebel against Big Brother and the Party. Now that he has Julia, she has become his sidekick to helping his rebellion.

I think the significance of WInston's relationship with Julia is to challenge the system and to see how it feels to be loved. Winston riska everything for this relationship because he hates big brother and this is his way of going against the government.

I think that the significance of Winston's relationship with Julia is to show that the essence of the human way can never be eliminated. Winston and Julia, members of the almighty Party are capable of love because they are human. They are loving because they cannot help it, they are human beings and love is a natural instinct.

I am agreeiing with Luke becaus eI have before used that same phrase of the living diary, which is why I think that is why he risks everything and is the significance of his relationship with her. He now has a "diary" to talk to and fill with all of his thoughts, but know it can respond to him and give its point of view. I think another significance is just his human-like instincts taking over that make us naturally want to rebel and explore the unknown. I think he likes to rebel against the government because he sees the corruptness of it. I think the exploring the unknown comes in because this is the first time anyone has loved Winston and he doesn't really know what true love is like so Julia is significant to finding that answer.

I think that Winston and Julias relationship is based off of their common interests. They both feel as if there is a need to challenge the rules of the government and to go against Big Brother. He feels as if she is much like himself so he is willing to risk much for her. They have a lot in common and Winston does not find many people that share his same ideas.

I think it is so significant because it is completely challenging the system. it's just like the diary. also, having sex with Julia was almost like a "boost" to Winston cause it showed someone else who wanted to "stick it to the party."

Winston and Julia's relationship is so significant because it is their way to rebel against the government. That's also why Winston risks everything. I think he always had an underlying want to rebel, but when he started writing his diary, and Julia came along, he was able to fulfill his want to rebel against the Party. He now realizes that he is in too deep to survive if the Party finds out about their relationship, so he is starting to live every moment to the fullest.

I agree with what a lot of people have said about their love being a form of rebellion against the government. The reason that Winston risks so much for the relationship is because it's the only thing he feels like he is living for right now.
