A Survey!

Hey Guys!I was wondering if you could answer a couple questions for my WRP:
1. How does color affect your mood in a classroom?
2. Which would you prefer, tables or desks to sit at?
3. If you could change the school, what changes would you make?
4. What things would you want to incorporate into a classroom to make learning enjoyable?5. What other classes would you want to create?
6. Have you ever used clickers to answer questions?
7. Which would you prefer to learn from; textbooks, word documents, or books on CDs?
8. If you could choose a color for a classroom, what color would it be and why?
Thank you for responding to this survey!

1. I don't really know, because every classroom I've ever been in was white, so I can't really compare it. If I had to guess, cooler colours make me more energetic.
2. IT depends on who's sitting at the table with me. If I like them, yes, if not NO.
3. More potties. Wider hallways. different paintjobs. couches everywhere. wider lockers.
4. More leaniency on music rules, b/c it helps some people concentrate, and as long as people don't listen to it instead of the teacher, it should be allowed.
5. A Tai-Chi class... more foreign language. A 55555555 day a week chinese class!!! not 2!
6. what's a clicker?
7. I guess books and CD's...
8. Tan and black.

1.)Like Matt said most classrooms are white, but in more colorful classrooms outside of school I generally feel more inspired.
2.)I like tables, because then you can see more people and collaborate good ideas to make them great ideas.
3.)I would make it a little bit less of a stiff environment. I feel that when you are more relaxed and not stressed, that you can concentrate and learn better. Also like Matt said, add more color and bathrooms to the school.
4.)I would just make learning a more fun, and less stressful. I think that we have such wonderful opportunities to learn in this country, yet so often it is too boring and stressful for kids to enjoy and appreciate it.
5.)I would add a wider variety of fun classes(arts, cooking, woodshop, PE, ect.), that allow people to incorparate their own passions into everyday school.
6.)Yes, in math.
7.) I would prefer textbooks.
8.)I would choose yellow, because it is energetic and keeps people awake, (and its my favorite color).

1. Like Matt said, I don't have much to compare it to because most of my classrooms are white. I do notice that if there is some personal style or posters, something to acompany the white walls, I seem to "feel" better in that environment.
2. I like tables.
3. I'm not sure what changes I would make. Maybe add a little more stlye to the classrooms to make it different and a good environment. Just add a more personal touch to the school.
4. Well, I do feel that laptops have really helped with my learning.
5. I might want to add more unique types of classes that differ from the regular cookie-cutter classes. I am not sure exactly what that means, but it would be interesting to see what that could be.
6. No, what are they?
7. I don't mind the text book but they are way too big. I don't like being on the computer all the time but I do like having the books on CDs.
8. I would do a different color for each room. Nothing dark because the school already seems to be pretty dark, but lighter shades. Yellows and some pretty tans and just unique colors to lighten the school mode.

1. The white classrooms just make me feel really bland. In the science wing, someof the classrooms have green carpet, or green tiling, so they aren't just white. I think I am more enthusiastic in those classes.
2. Tables. There is more room, and you aren't sitting in an enclosed box. Tables are more comfortable.
3. Definitly more colorful. Longer passing periods. Wider hallways and lockers.
4. Music, and more comfortable chairs. Less restrictive rules about electronics.
5. I really don't know.
6. YES! In my 7th grade Social Studies class. We played cool games with them. It was definitly better then just taking notes.
7. I think a mix of them would be good. I find it hard to read for a long period of time on the computer, so textbooks for in class would be good. But I walk home, and the textbooks are heavy, so I'm glad the books are online. CD books for use at home would be great.
8. Something other then white.

Oh, I forgot. For 3, I would also add more bathrooms.

1) color makes me excited and attentive
2)tables
3)Hmmm... I'd add another girls bathroom. And I'd paint the existing one something other than the disgusting yellow it currently is
4) The freedom to make our own learning instead of being lectured all the time.
5) Free study - not an off-hour, but a class that you would go to to learn about anything you wanted to. No limits. If you liked FIFA soccer, then you could learn about that, if you liked mangoes, then it would be mangoes you would learn about, if you wanted to know more about Ancient Rome, then you would study ancient rome. What ever you wanted to learn about you could in that class. It would be truly independent study.

Sorry, I only answered five of the survey questons. My bad.

6)Yes, but I was aweful at it.
7)Word documents and Books on iPods. I need a little variety.
8)White. But I'd allow people to put posters and murals on the walls to "liven things up"

1. brighter colors = brighter mood

2. I like desks personally. My stuff is usually all over the place so I prefer my own space.

3. I agree with Morganw on this one

4. more color and creativity

5. I would definitely have to think about that one

6. What are those?

7. I think all of them. Like, Morganw, I need variety.

8. for some reason I like maroon, or a subtle red. Maybe some purple. I don't know...something else than white.
