Well, I was thinking about doing my paper on something along these lines:
On pg. 132 in AWNM, Pink says, "In a sense, I've merely written 'lips' in modern hieroglyphics instead of truly seeing my lips and recognnizing how they relate to the totality of my face." Anyway, I was thinking about doing something on how people who really see things and see how they influence people will be better at their jobs and will just do better in the world.
Any suggestions how I might do that?

research that art class that Daniel Pink was talking about. Also interview people on images and see what different perspectives you get
Hope this helps :)
People!! go look at my Post please and answer the question I put up. It would be very helpful. thanks
Morgan:
I love your idea of seeing the whole picture. If you remember that one day at swimming when I brought in my picture from art class, and you all thought it was amazing? Well the truth is I'm not an amazing drawer. In art class we watched this film called DFN (draw faces now). It was really cheesy, but really helped me draw what was really on the paper. I would sugest going and interviewing the Arapahoe art teachers and find out what they think about your idea.
i'm thinking about doing something about music. what do you think? and ideas?
Alex, I would love to help you but what aspect of music do you want to research? What sense are you going to draw into music? How will that relate back to the book?
alex- maybe you could do something along the lines of how music influences design (or whatever), and how music makes you feel when you listen to it. Music could evoke play, empathy, story...etc. It is very influential in many ways. You could go a lot of ways with this topic.
Hope this helps a little bit!
alex- I also found this quote... it was actually on my starbucks cup. =D Anyway... it may or may not help you.
"Music can lift us out of depresstion or move us to tears - it is a remedy, a tonic, orange juice for the ear. But for many of my neurological patients, music is even more - it can provide access, even when no medication can, to movement, to speech, to life. For them, music is not a luxury, but a necessity."

He guys!!
This is my thesis and I was wondering what you guys thought about it? I know that it is short, but sometimes short and simple is better then long and detailed.
Give me your opinion!:-)
Thanks!
In Daniel Pink's A Whole New Mind, Pink argues that story is behind many different aspects in our lives including business, education and communication.

Kristina
I think that is a pretty good thesis! Yeah, sometimes simple is better. =D
Thanks morgan and melissa. I'll let you know what i'm thinking once i get down exactally what I think i should do. You both gave me great ideas! I'm currently looking at symphony, but I'm not sure quite now. Thanks so much!
Kristina, those are great ideas but your topics seem to be very broad. Who am I to say and I think it's a great idea, you might want to simplify the business, education and communication.
Ok, I have a question about my paper as well. My idea isn't that exciting, but I wanted to focus on the importance of play in the work place. But, I'm not sure what 3 aspects I should focus on in my paper. One idea I had was explaining what Pink says in AWNM, then reflecting personal opinions of actual businessmen and others, then find statistics to prove the importance. But, I wasn't sure if I could do something in that format, so any ideas?
hmmm...melissaz-
that actually is a cool topic. You do have a good question though. I don't really have any ideas right now, but I'll think about it, and I'll let you know.
Hey guys! okay, now I have a question...how can I form my thesis to be better. I already have a general one, but I don't think it's good enough. My topic is the first comment on here, but any ideas?
Ok, so I went back to wondering about my music thesis. In smphony Pink talks a lot about music and conductors. Do you guys think that it's ok to create a thesis saying:
Music
Affects of music on learning
Enhances your right brain
Helps patients to get better, sooner
What do you guys think. I feel like i just took a sentence out of his book and said, let's go off this, but I'm not sure if that's ok or if that was exactally what i was supposed to do. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks
My thesis I was thinking of working on was how we can incorporate the six senses into the classroom. Is that a good topic or is it too broad?
selenam
Well, that is a good idea, but it may be a little too broad. Maybe you could just concentrate on a few of them.
But, on the other hand, you could make that topic work. You could, I guess, be brief about each one. I don't think you would want to go into detail for all six of them. That is why I was thinking maybe you should narrow it down a little bit. Good topic though!
Melissaz- maybe you could do something like explaining what Pink said in your own words, explaining the importance of it in workplace (aka: interviews...etc), then telling us how it could be done. That's just an idea.

Okay guys, here is my thesis. What do you think?
In Daniel Pink's A Whole New Mind, Pink mentions that people who see the big picture are more likely to succeed than people who concentrate on details because of creativity, grasping relationships, and realizing the difference between what matters, and what does not.
Is it too long? Not specific enough? Any comments?
Selenam- Yes, I do have to say that it is a little too big of an idea for the purpose of our paper. Maybe pull out 3 senses that you feel need to be incoperated and in your body paragraphs, explain why and how that needs to be done.
Alexf- That's a great idea, you don't have to worry. I would just, while you are writing your body paragraphs include different aspects of the senses. Those 3 ideas have a lot to do with many of his senses so just bring them into your paper as well.
Morgan- that's a great idea, thank you.
alexf - you little bug. you stole my idea. I too want to want to research how different genres of music can affect a person. I also want to see if it would have any long term effects. I have no idea how that relates to "A Whole New Mind" though... Help?
mattw - maybe music can affect the left brain also. It enhances your right brain, but can it also affect your left brain? That is a very good question.
Here is my thesis statement.
As referred to in Daniel Pink’s A Whole New Mind, laughter escalates success in school, work, and life by reducing stress, promoting health, and increasing productivity.
What do you think? Any suggestions? Do you think the topic is too narrow?
That's good cate. What I like about it is that you take a definite stance, instead of just restating something that Pink has already said. I also like the laughter idea. Very you!
I changed my thesis guys. What do you think of it?
People are more likely to succeed in the aspects of creativity, grasping relationships, and realizing the difference between what matters and what does not when the ability to see the big picture is apparent.
Or...should I say:
People are more likely to succeed in the aspects of creativity, grasping relationships, and realizing the difference between what matters and what does not when one focuses on the big picture rather than on details.
which one?
Morgan, I like your thesis, but it doesn't say anything about A Whole New Mind or Daniel Pink,so you might want to add that. The only other thing that I would suggest would be to change "more likely to succeed" to something a little stronger.
Also here is my new thesis:
As indicated in Daniel Pink's A Whole new mind, laughter is imperative success in school, work, and life because it reduces stress, promoting health, and increases productivity.
What do you think? Is it more argumenative?
